When you are ready to go, go. You will not be missed as much as you think, and in some cases not at all. The board will somehow survive without you. But if you do choose to post a swan song post, please make sure it is, in fact, your last post. Saying you're leaving and then coming back (hereafter referred to as NLMF'ing) is very bad form. Please see Rule 14 of Hobbeseses' Proposed Rules Amendments. NLMF'ing will result in your being ostracized and ridiculed at every available opportunity. Also, returning under another alias after a swan song post does not excuse you from your due ridicule.

Note: Should you leave the board on your own without the aforementioned swan song post, you are free to return at a later date under the same alias or another should you so choose with no penalty. In most cases you will be welcomed back and asked what you had for lunch while you were gone. On rare occasions you may be invited to meet at the DoubleTree to settle things personally.
