Pitt, Aniston Separate After 4 1/2 Years

LOS ANGELES -- Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have finally made official what was rumored for months -- Hollywood's A-List couple is splitting up.

"We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate," the couple said in a joint statement released Friday by Pitt's publicist, Cindy Guagenti. "For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration." In a separate statement, Aniston elaborated further:

"Brad and I fell in love and were married in a whirlwind.  Unfortunately, there were things in Brad's past that I wasn't aware of until after we were married.  In late October of the first year of our marriage, he suddenly and inexplicably started barking at me.  'Woof, Woof, Woof!!!'  At first it was cute, then it became annoying, and frankly, a little frightening.  I investigated, and found out the ugly truth:  Brad was a closet Bulldog."

"I thought we could overcome it, but the constant drooling and playing of 'Who Let The Dawgs Out" over and over and over again just got to be too much.  Then, in a moment of weakness while surfing message boards, I read about another man.  A REAL man.  A Florida Gator.  He says he just 'sits around waiting for football season'.  He doesn't know about my feelings - but ever since I first heard one of his SEC fight song tapes ......."

"Stats, if you read this, I want you to know one thing.  I'm just sittin' here waiting for you."
