There is just so much ridiculous drivel coming out after ONE loss--a big loss, no doubt, a brutal loss, for sure, but still only ONE. When my friends and I met up after the game (yes, we all stayed at our seats until after the alma mater), the first words out of our mouths were, "It's STILL great to be a Florida Gator!" And we all meant those words from the bottom of our hearts.
After growing up in Jax and seeing the yearly drubbing from UGA, after many trips to Gainesville as a kid, after going 0-10-1 my freshman year, I understand your points completely. We will rebound from this loss, and be a stronger team for it.
At one point during the game, after hearing a Gator "fan" behind me booing Zook and our players for more times than I could bear, I turned to the youngster and told him, "A real Gator NEVER boos any other Gator--player, coach, or fan. The thought may cross your mind, but you get over it and keep your mouth shut. Gators stick together." Of course the kid didn't respond, he just gave me an odd look, but he quieted down. As he was leaving (during the third quarter!), he did give me a nod and a little smile. Maybe he got the message, maybe not, but I'll keep on preaching it 'til the day I die.
Go Gators!!!
