As I mentioned here before, we met up with a group of guys Saturday to watch the days worth of games in a sports bar. To begin with, all of these guys (except Smart AlecG8r) had bets on just about every game going that day, so they loved having the room full of television sets in front of them to keep track of whether they were up or down for all of the games at once. Being the only female in the group (and not a gambler), I found it quite interesting to hear their Vegas ramblings about the spreads, point totals, etc and watching them keep track of their winnings and losses as they either drank more beer to celebrate, or to numb the pain. Two of these guys are extreme Bama fans. I've known them for years, but this was the first time I've had the opportunity to observe their behavior together while watching Alabama play. I have to say that even though we lost too, I didn't see ANY Gators in the bar behaving the way that they did. It was hysterical from my point of view, disliking Bama the way I do, and especially knowing how arrogant one of these guys in particular has always been about Alabama. The following is a summary of their conversations during the game: When Alabama started the game with an onside kick (I still say that was a screw up and they just got lucky. ), they went ballistic jumping up and down, in and out of the isle beside our tables... Bama 1: Did you see that?!! Did you see that?!! Bama 2: Whoooohoooo!! I saw that!!! Hot Damn!!! Bama 1: ROLL TIDDDDDDDDE! [High fives, low fives, and fives in the middle] Bama 2: ROLL TIDDDDDDDDDE!! Whoo Hooo! Is Bama the team or what?! Bama 1: Yeah Man!! We're the best!! ROLL TIIIIIDDDDDE! [Another bucket of beer is ordered to celebrate. Bama 2 offers to buy Smart AlecG8r and me a shot to celebrate. We decline.] This continued on until Oklahoma starting scoring and Bama started screwing up (more) and getting way behind..... Bama 1: Man, we suck!! Bama Sucks!!! Bama 2: Man, you got that #### right, we suck!!! Bama 1: This wouldn't happen with Bear! Bama 2: No man, Bear would have us winning. This is BS! Bama 1: Man, I don't care how much money I'm losing, I just want us to win! Bama 2: I'm with ya man. We suck!! Bama completely sucks!! [Another bucket of beer is ordered and Bama #2 offers to buy me a shot because they're losing. I politely decline.] Then Alabama starts to turn things around after the second half and starts pulling closer to Oklahoma... Bama 1: Hot damn!!! Are we the best team out there or what?!!! Bama 2: Got that #### right!! Holy ####, we can't be beat!!! Bama 1: Since we can't go to a bowl this year, this is our bowl game, and we're gonna win it!! Bama 2: Oklahoma sucks! We're whipping their @ss!!!! Bama 1: ROLLL TIDDDDDDDDDDDE!!! [High fives again, over and over] Bama 2: HOT DAMN! ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE!!!! [Bama 2 asks me several times to do a shot with him to celebrate. Again, I politely decline, so they order another bucket of beer for two of them.] Finally, in the last 2 1/2 minutes of the game Oklahoma scored twice to pull back in the lead..... Bama 1: #(*@$&*@&!! Bama SUCKS!!! Bama 2: @*$@#*&$#@(!!!! Man, Bama screwed us!! They suck so bad! Bama 1: We just lost our bowl game man! Oklahoma SUCKS!! Bama 2: We can't play worth a ####, do you know that?!!! Bama 1: I know it man! Bama SUCKS!! Bama 1: I hope Miami beats the #### out of the Gators! They both stuck around long enough to root for scUM for a few minutes, then called for their rides and went home.
