It's been a while since I greeted the morning after a Gator win with such a big smile. It's 8:30 p.m. the night after and I'm still sifting through on-line stories. It's been a while since I watched an entire re-play. Sure we've won a lot of games the past few years, but last night was different.
It might have been the 108,000 people silenced by a fantastic team effort. It might have been watching Clint Mitchell take the ball away like it was Lamar Thomas thinking he was dancing into the endzone. It might have been watching Rex dodge tacklers, throw the ball while falling backwards, running for 30 years or throwing those long bombs. It might have been seeing a good guy like Zook get a huge win under his belt after a disappointing start. It might have been hearing commentators eat crow. It might have been the maturity apparent on both sides of the ball as seen in guys patting opponents after a good play.
It might be one of those things, but collectively it amounted to a magic that I haven't seen or felt in a long time. I'm not minimizing all of the exciting things that have occurred over the years, but something about last night was really special. It was the magic.
I've enjoyed all of your posts today. There was something special in all of them, too. As SW so wonderfully exclaimed below, IT IS GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR!!
