"You are misinformed"

several years back one of the newspapers (the Sun, I think) had an article on Foley keeping a list of replacement coaches in all sports. He said then that Zook was at the top of his list. I don't think Zook was a panic hire, I believe that Stoops, because of his success, had replaced Zook at the number 1 guy, I still believe that Stoops accepted the job but for some reason changed his mind. Foley had to give his old friend Shannahan a look, but he was never seriously interested in the job, just using Foley to get a raise. Zook was always in Foley's mind because Foley loves coaches that can recruit, a SOS weakness even by his own admission. You can't seriously expect a new coach to come in with basically all new assistants (two hold overs from the previous regime) implementing new systems on both sides of the ball and win every game. I don't really think our record would be much different if SOS was here, his teams had always had the same kind of meltdowns against SECW teams on the road, so I don't understand where the panic is coming from, other than the fact that you just don't like Zook and seem unwilling to give him a chance. To judge him a failure after 6 games is blatantly unfair, and in case you didn't notice, the guy buried his father yesterday in Ohio, and still made it back to practice in Gainesville. He'll do fine, recruiting is going well, we just need Gators to shut their traps and try supporting the team. This kind of adversity will make us better in the long run.
