Another classic game and it is to Florida's credit that they have continued to win though the games have come more competitive. I fall in love with North Florida every time this year. If I have to give the weather a name I think I'd call it brisk sparkle. If they ever do something really stupid like move the game, I think I'll still go to the beach down there every year about this time. On Sunday, I had a great walk on the beach. I did not want to go home.
There is this cruel sadness I feel after the game on Sunday every year, and its not related to the result. The season of college football is wickedly short, and thats bad enough. But Georgia - Florida is a season unto itself, and its even shorter. For me it starts the previous Saturday when the final whistle blows in the preceding game. It ends when I breathe that last brisk breath of ocean air before driving home on Sunday. It is a precious and rare and wonderful season, and like all of the best things in life, if you blink you miss it.
Its why I love you guys so much. I want to beat the livin' hell out of you, but what would I do without you.
Hope everyone made it home safe, and we'll see you next year.
