(EDITED BY AUTHOR: 11/13/2005 - 6:15 p.m.) Oh well. HAD we won, you can almost bet UGA would have hung on against AU. Carolina has suffered a long time and I have long said there is no group of fans more deserving of something good. I didn't want it to happen at our expense but face it folks SOS out coached UM. Is that to say I don't like UM? Hardly. Quite the contrary. Urban, join the list of folks who have been outcoached by him. SOS has been in coaching since before UM was in high school and is no doubt one of the games best ever. So long as we beat fsu, I'll take an 8-3 year for a new staff in year one. The fact is (and UM was preaching it all off season) we are NOT as talented across the board as some blindingly unrealistic Gators claim we are simply because "I'm a Gator fan and I said so!" Get real! Another point, those of you all ticked at the administration that they didn't bring SOS back, GET OVER SOS ALREADY!! First of all, HE LEFT US BY CHOICE. He said and I quote, "Going to Gator Clubs got old" was one of the reasons he left. Awwww, gee I know it is a hell of a burden getting $2.5 mil a year and in exchange having to put with the adulation of the people who fill the Swamp every Saturday in the fall. Secondly, I don't think for a second he EVER planned to come back. Did he want his ego stroked? Sure, but just long enough to say no. I like everyone will always be grateful for what SOS did for UF. The operative word in the preceeding sentence is "DID", not DOING. He's trying to do it for someone else now and at our expense as it is his job to do so. But this Gator IS NOT going to kiss his ass while he is trying to! I'm a Gator. Not a Spurrier loyalist. I loved the Gators since I can first remember watching Dickey's teams in the early 70's. Loved Pell and Hall's Gators of the 80's, Spurrier's of the 90's and '00 & '01, Zook's of '02-'04, and Urban's team this year. The Gators out there who refuse to get their head out of the sand (or out of their ass) about SOS should just turn in their orange and blue and go follow the Gamecocks. And when SOS retires, go follow him around the golf course. I was talking to one guy in the lobby at my hotel this morning before I left Columbia and he said, "We (we meaning UF) should have given him an open contract when he left stating that he could come back whenever he wanted to." I couldn't beleive my ears! I told the guy, "What sense would that make? Hey (fill in the blank next coach) we want you to be our new football coach and we're with you all the way but remember, if Spurrier ever decides he wants to come back you're outta here!" That's like having your wife say she's leaving you (for no reason) and you respond by saying, "Ok honey, I'll just sit here like a stooge in the meantime and if you ever want to come back, I'm yours forever!" What would you say to a wennie like that? You'd say, "Show some pride you spineless meely mouthed jerk off!" That's how I feel about some people who refuse to accept the fact SOS is NOT at UF anymore because HE CHOSE NOT TO BE! Either get on board as a Gator or get gone! Spurrier has gone about his business since his days at UF. I suggest others and you know who you are do the same.
One side bar, Jax times union "writer" Mike Freeman is the biggest idiot ever! IF you want to read his column, do so at your own risk. I'm not even going to link it. One thing he said in his column though was "this was maybe the worst non bowl loss in UF history". He called it a "unmitigated humiliating mess". HORSESH_T! We lost to solid team with an outstanding coach, nothing more. Want to talk about humiliating games? How about the loss to MSU last year which cost Zooker his job? How about a 17-11 loss in 1988 to Memphis IN GAINESVILLE! How about blowing A 28 POINT LEAD IN 12 MINUTES IN THE 31-31 LOSS IN TALLY IN 1994? I could site a ton of other examples. His statement only shows he is a hack who doesn't know dick about the subject matter he is writing about. That subject being Florida Football.
Focus FSU.
