effort today! Iowa is an an excellent, tough, well coached and fundamentally sound team. They play very solid, no quit football giving their heart to every single play. I will bet their players will not whine about anything except coming up short on the scoreboard. Their qb throws nice darts, the little running back is very good and they play tough defense every play. It would be tough to go to a state like Iowa to play football, but their guys deserve plenty of respect and I'm thrilled to be able to have a win against them . To think that they aren't a very good team would be absurd and I think they would have beaten any other team I've seen play so far in the bowls. I hope they get a final ranking that is appropriate to their effort and ability.
Our seniors will remember this win for the rest of their lives and to see Vernell Brown take the pick back was a tribute to all that is good in the world! The Captain of this team is 5'8" and 165 pounds of pure heart and determination! A lot of people turned their backs on this guy when he made a mistake in Tampa as a freshman, but not this Gator!
It is not easy to be a football player and all those early mornings, spring and summer workouts and self disicipline that is not always easy when you are 18-23 years old. Your lives are looked at under a microscope every day and night. This Gator appreciates your behavior off the field as much as every victory. Here's to all those seniors who gave me a lot to be proud of as a fan and alumni of the University of Florida. !
I tried to turn off the announcers and listen to Mick but the tv three second delay made it as bad as listening to the tv guys.
Lots of Peabody game balls today...V Brown, Dallas Baker, C Leak, Kestahn Moore, Kyle Jackson, the punt block Jemalle Cornelius, Billy Latsko on fourth, O line all day long.... and all the coaches who not only had they guys physically ready but mentally had the team execute a bowl week as it should be....they had some fun during the week but kept a business like approach to the game and it showed today.
On to a great 2006! A lot to be done to reach the level that champions require. First, if your leaving the team before your eligibility is used up... decide this week. Thanks for the memories and best wishes! IMHO this should not be an issue for any of the guys except Chad Jackson. If Dee Webb goes I would like to understand the draft better.... I just don't see him being ready yet, much as I said last week about DeShawn Wynn. Chad could go but I think he would go much higher next year. Those guys that don't go need to get back to work next week.
Lots of good guys gonna be Gators next year and the season will have a very tough schedule that if we win out would be indictative of the best team anywhere, ever. It will take a champion like spring and summer.
It is Great to be a Florida Gator!
